Wakefield is a town synonymous with outdoor recreation. People come from around the region to enjoy the perfect 5K route around beautiful Lake Quannapowitt.
At just under 8 square miles, Wakefield has a network of 88 miles of roads that connect our commercial and recreation areas, public transportation stops, and unique neighborhoods.
Safe Streets Working Group believes that anyone, young or old, should be able to confidently and safely enjoy Wakefield streets on foot, on a bike or scooter or behind the wheel of a motor vehicle.
We provide a strong community voice and technical expertise focused on helping Wakefield adopt best practices for multi-modal transportation. This includes safe and visible crosswalks and signage, designated bike lanes, and consistent and continuous sidewalks.
Join us as we raise awareness of and advocate for a town that embraces walking, running, biking, and rolling as a viable, safe, and healthy transportation and recreation option!
