Update: A revised version of the Bicycle Pedestrian Plan was presented to Town Council at their November 13th meeting. The revised version will be posted soon on the Town's website and open for a 2-week public input period, in anticipation of a vote on whether to accept the plan at the Council's December 11th meeting. Watch the deliberation of the plan and 4-3 Council vote to prioritize parking between Main Street between Lowell and Church Streets (recording here - discussion starts at 2:36:00)
We are pleased to report that the Wakefield Traffic Advisory Committee recommended, and the Town Council voted in favor of, several road safety improvments, including the expansion of safety zones around Wakefield public schools at its July 2023 meeting (watch here). Copy of expanded zones available here (starting on page 3).
The August 2023 Open Streets event at Lake Quannapowitt was a huge success with over 500 people taking advantage of expanded access to streets for rolling, walking and biking. We also had many kids (and a few adults) sharpen their biking skills at the Bike Rodeo! Many thanks to Wakefield Cable Access TV for participating and making this video!
Join us September 16th for the next Open Streets event.
